Description

We are seeking a knowledgeable Truck Trailer Mechanic (Apprentice or Red Seal) to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of semi-trucks and heavy-duty vehicles.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with diesel engines, drivetrain systems, suspension, electrical systems, and more. If you are passionate about fixing big rigs, have excellent problem-solving skills, and are dedicated to safety and quality, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and Repair: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on semi-trucks, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust systems, and air systems.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, brake adjustments, tire rotations, and filter replacements to ensure optimal truck performance.
  • Engine and Transmission Work: Repair and overhaul diesel engines, including performing diagnostic tests, replacing faulty components, and rebuilding engines as necessary.
  • Electrical Systems: Inspect and repair the electrical wiring, lighting, and battery systems of semi-trucks.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure vehicles comply with all safety and regulatory standards. (Ideally Red Seal status and able to certify Manitoba Safeties. Will also consider lower level apprentices though)
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of all repairs and maintenance activities, including parts used, labor hours, and time of service.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with fleet managers and other mechanics to schedule repairs and minimize vehicle downtime.

Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a semi-truck / trailer mechanic or in a similar heavy-duty vehicle maintenance role.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical systems, air and fuel systems, etc.
  • Certifications: Ideally Red Seal certified or Level 3 / 4 Apprentices; but may consider Level 1 / 2 Apprentices
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy parts, work in tight spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 driver’s license; CDL is a plus but not required.
